Kerr McGee
The Kerr McGee Leadon Project involved the production engineering, procurement, fabrication, installation and commissioning of the production and processing modules onto the hull of the Global Producer III, a 500,000 barrel floating production, storage and offloading vessel (FPSO). The facilities included palletised process equipment and modular units amounting to over 5,500 ton of topsides, delivered to a very tight programme. The 217m long x 38m wide vessel was fitted out by Swan Hunter with over 2,150 tons of new steelwork, 570 tons of piping and 135 km of cabling as well as the installation of over 2700 tons of equipment. The majority of the process modules were fabricated under cover in the large assembly hall at Wallsend and lifted onto the hull of the Global Producer III using a 1,000 ton revolving crane located on the quayside. The various packages and systems were then hooked-up, tested and commissioned prior to the vessel departing for the field with all interconnections with vessel systems also being performed at the yard.
