Oil & Gas Construction
Swan Hunter maintains its decades of offshore oil & gas capability by designing, fabricating and constructing projects ranging from complex subsea templates and manifolds to the construction of major offshore platform facilities and FPSO’s. The experience gained in the demanding offshore industry, including on-time delivery and ‘smart procurement’ methods have become central to the culture and approach of Swan Hunter in all its projects, and have been further adapted to its shipbuilding activities.
The conversion of the FPSO ‘Global Producer III’ for the Kerr McGee Leadon offshore development was executed in an eleven month period commencing in October 2000. At sail-away in September 2001, Swan Hunter had successfully completed a program of detailed production engineering, procurement, fabrication and installation of over 5,500 tons of process topsides and vessel modifications. Many of the modules and pallets were constructed under cover in the main assembly shops then lifted onto the vessel with a 1000 ton revolving crane.
In 2005, Swan Hunter delivered over 1000 tons of subsea manifolds, templates and associated piles for the Technip Burullus project offshore Egypt, including several large production manifolds and wellhead templates which included extensive use of exotic steels. Swan Hunter also assisted with an extensive onshore trial fit programme to reduce possible offshore installation risks and undertook loadout and seafastening onto ocean going barges.
